About seven months after acquisition of his former company Switch and Data by the global colocation giant Equinix, John Panzica has taken a top sales and marketing position with a US colocation provider FiberMedia.

Before the acquisition, Panzica was a VP of Switch and Data's financial services practice. He then became a sales director at Equinix, which closed the $683m transaction in May 2010.

This week, FiberMedia announced that Panzica joined it as a senior VP of sales. In his new position, he will oversee sales and marketing of the company's six data centers.

FiberMedia CEO Michael Bucheit said the company was looking for a seasoned industry professional who understands the financial, healthcare, media and IT markets. "We found that and more in John Panzica and are thrilled for him join the company."

FiberMedia's data centers are located in New York, New Jersey and Ohio.
