Ajubeo, an Infrastructure-as-a-Service startup by two former employees of the wholesale data center firm CoreSite, has officially launched its enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure services.
Ajubeo provides elastic compute, storage and network services. Starting with one site at a Fortrust data center in Denver, Colorado, the company is hard at work to extend its “Global Cloud Mesh” to additional sites in New York and London by the end of 2012.
The company’s CTO Tom Whitcomb said its service was a nest-generation IaaS, “built by CIOs for CIOs. We have the technology, security, compliance and reliability that positions Ajubeo among the industry elite, but we take it a step further.”
Until about one year ago, Whitcomb was VP of IT at CoreSite. Prior to that, he worked as a service delivery manager at Auxix, a management consulting and outsourcing firm that advised companies on business infrastructure.
The infrastructure is built on high-density compute resources custom-made by SGI. The VMware-virtualized infrastructure also includes products from NetApp, Fortinet, Cisco and Brocade.
Chick Price, Ajubeo CEO, said inspiration for the new IaaS outfit came from challenges its co-founders had experienced first-hand while working in leading enterprise-IT positions at other companies.
““Our mission is to provide today’s IT executives and architects with real, enterprise-scale security, performance and agility by starting with an in-depth assessment of their current environment and take into account their businesses vision for the future,” Price said.
Price also left CoreSite about one year ago. His role at the publicly traded data center wholesaler (formerly CRG West) was SVP of technology.
Prior to joining CoreSite, Price was VP of technology at TD Ameritrade Trust Company, a provider of asset custody, trust and back-office support services for institutions, such as third-party administrators, record-keepers and investment advisors.
Ajubeo is backed by Grey Mountain Partners, a Boulder, Colorado-based private-equity firm.
