Ian Watmore, former UK head of outsourcing giant Accenture and the man who was ex-prime minister Tony Blair's head of e-government is to take over the running of the English Football Association.

The high profile position will see the ex-IT man and former government CIO take responsibility for English football from grass roots level up to the running of the national team.

Watmore is a life long fan of London-based Arsenal Football Club.
