Forum Markets is to supply Nvidia-backed inference provider Fireworks with data center capacity in Texas.
The Nasdaq-listed company this week announced that Forum Edge AI LLC, the company's joint venture (JV) with Edge Node Inc., has entered into a definitive agreement with Fireworks for a 36-month reservation of Nvidia B300 GPU capacity at its existing, powered data center facility in Dallas.
The deal, Forum Edge's first contracted customer commitment, is valued at $94.4 million. The GPUs are expected to be deployed at Forum Edge's Dallas data center in late December or early January.
"This agreement is an important proof point for our AI infrastructure strategy and reflects our focus on bringing revenue-generating GPUs to market quickly in a modular manner," said McAndrew Rudisill, Forum Markets chairman and CEO. "We have a strong partnership with Fireworks and are excited about our growth trajectory as we scale our AI infrastructure business. This is the first finalized contract Forum Edge is executing against and the first of several exciting partnerships we expect to deploy into our unique footprint."
Founded in 2022, Fireworks provides inference, training, and routing that help enterprises deploy and scale generative AI applications in production. The company was most recently valued at approximately $17.5 billion, with backers including Nvidia, Atreides Management, Index Ventures, and TCV.
The company rents GPU servers from other sources, and then sells access to open-source AI models, competing with the likes of Together AI and Baseten. Last year, Oracle revealed that it counts Fireworks AI among its customers. The company also uses GPUs from Voltage Park. On its website, Fireworks says it operates across 30 global regions across Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.
Investment firm Forum Markets announced a partnership with Edge Node Inc. earlier this month. The JV initial portfolio consists of 2MW of a 4MW data center in Dallas; a 9MW data center campus in High Point, North Carolina; and one initial mobile communications tower site of 1-2MW.
Full details haven't been shared, but the Dallas data center currently offers 2MW, operated by Edge Node AI, with another 2MW coming later this year or early next year and allocated to the joint venture.
Forum Markets is an asset manager that was previously focused on “tokenization of institutional-grade real-world assets on Ethereum.” Today the firm describes itself as investing in cash-generating assets across AI infrastructure, commercial aerospace, manufactured housing finance, and auto credit.
Founded last year, Texas-based Edge Node is a ‘Tokens-as-a-Service’ provider, aiming to offer low-latency compute and inference services and access to LLMs in the US. The company has yet to launch its services.
