FiberLight has agreed a deal to acquire Metro Fiber Networks (MFN).
Fiber optic networks provider FiberLight didn't disclose financial terms, but said it expects the deal to close during the second quarter of this year.
MFN provides fiber services to carriers and public institutions in Richmond and Virginia Beach.
The company said the acquisition will strengthen its existing network footprint in Virginia.
FiberLight also noted that it will add MFN’s high-capacity conduit and fiber network connecting from the Virginia Beach cable landing station (CLS) to Richmond. The Virginia Beach CLS is a major subsea cable landing station that supports TransAtlantic and US-LATAM traffic.
“This transaction marks a significant milestone for FiberLight as we expand our network to reach Virginia Beach, which hosts the largest defense installation outside of the Pentagon and the largest CLS in the US,” said FiberLight CEO Bill Major.
“The MFN assets are a natural extension of our existing network and will allow us to provide customers with reliable, high-speed connectivity services to various organizations in Virginia.”
FiberLight, which provides a range of services including Ethernet, dark fiber, and wireless backhaul services, was acquired by a consortium led by Morrison in 2023.
The company added that the acquisition of MFN paves the way for further expansion to Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, and Atlanta.
FiberLight has an extensive footprint across the US, as it operates in more than 430 cities in the US, with approximately 17,000 route miles of fiber networks and 230,000 pre-qualified near-net buildings.
