About two weeks after beating Google at the amount of traffic that goes through its site, Facebook announced it will also be taking one of Google's data center managers to run its new data center being built in Prineville, Ore.

Ken Patchett, who has been running Google's data center in The Dalles, Ore., since 2006, is the new manager for the future Facebook facility. He will be responsible for building and operating the data center.

"The people of Prineville have been so welcoming to Facebook and I look forward to working with the community going forward," Patchett said in a statement posted on the Oregon data center's own Facebook group wall. "With my previous experience in The Dalles, I have seen what the presence of a data center can do for a community and we look to have similar results here in Prineville.

"We have a lot to do to bring our energy efficient data center online early next year, and continue to be committed to hiring as many local people as possible to build and operate the facility."

Besides running Google's data center in The Dalles, Patchett helped open several of the search-engine company's other data centers in the US and Asia. Prior to joining Google, he worked at MSN and Compaq.
