EYP Mission Critical Facilities has announced the launch of EnerOptÔäó, a tool designed to reduce facility energy costs. The creation of EnerOptÔäó is driven by skyrocketing energy costs and clients' demands to help them more efficiently run their mission critical environments.
"With EnerOptÔäó, we are working with our clients to identify methods of reducing energy consumption in their data centers and other critical facilities. EYP MCF evaluates the existing facility, uses a proprietary software program to determine efficiency, makes recommendations on better design and operational techniques and then assists in implementing those energy saving options, said Rick Einhorn, president of EYP Mission Critical Facilities. "EnerOptÔäó is just one more weapon in the EYP MCF arsenal of energy-efficient design and operational techniques that results in money saved for our clients. In addition, decreasing energy usage ultimately also reduces the carbon foot-print of the data center, which helps in saving the environment.
In a typical data center, the price of energy continues to rise as the use of energy per square foot dramatically increases. This is due primarily to the increased speed, performance and processing power of the computer microchip. As the chip gets smaller and the power needed to run the system gets larger, the load per square foot exponentially rises. In the end, it is estimated approximately 50% of IT budgets are spent on costs directly related to the needed energy for the IT environment. Therefore, looking for ways to save energy use throughout the facility is vitally important for our clients, since it ultimately affects their ability to process and affects their bottom line. The EnerOptÔäó tool assesses the whole facility and provides factually based data for our clients to make sound decisions on how and where to save energy. The energy saved can be used to drive additional critical processing systems at little or no additional capital costs or, funds saved by utilizing EnerOptÔäó in running a more efficient facility can be redirected to other essential business growth initiatives.
