Microsoft has appointed Erin Henderson as its new director of energy infrastructure.
Henderson joined Microsoft in late 2023 as the head of its nuclear development acceleration.
Joining from the Tennessee Valley Authority, Henderson was part of the team behind Microsoft's deal with Constellation to revive the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in a blockbuster 835MW PPA.
"Excited to announce my new role as Director, Energy Infrastructure at Microsoft," Henderson said. "Grateful to Melissa C. Lott, PhD for entrusting me with the opportunity to lead this innovative team."
Lott joined Microsoft as partner general manager, energy technologies, only this past October. Prior to the move to the hyperscaler, she worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and is a member of the UN's Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition.
Both are part of a growing team at Microsoft to power ever-larger data centers on an increasingly constrained grid.
Last week, DCD exclusively reported on Microsoft's plans to build an energy infrastructure technologies team. The company is hiring for a director of transmission technologies for North America, as well as a senior program manager of global transmission technologies for APAC and EMEA.
The company plans to spend $80bn on AI data centers this year.
