Ericsson has reportedly sealed a 5G contract with Indian carrier Bharti Airtel.
Reuters notes the vendor has secured a multi-billion contract to provide its 5G equipment to Airtel.
A potential 5G deal for Ericsson would come fresh off the announcement earlier this month that the vendor had been awarded major 4G and 5G contracts by another Indian telco, Vodafone Idea (Vi).
Ericsson was also jointly awarded a chunk of a $3.6 billion contract to sell 5G equipment to Vi. Nokia and Samsung were also awarded that contract.
The vendor has declined to comment. Sources told Reuters that Ericsson that much of the 5G deployment will take place next year.
Airtel launched its 5G network in October 2022. As of the end of June, the carrier has around 90 million 5G subscribers.
The deal will be a boost to Ericsson's Indian operations, after it saw a fall in contracts in the country earlier this year.
During the second quarter, sales across Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India dropped by 44 percent.
Earlier today, Ericsson revealed strong growth in its North American market, driven largely by its $14 billion Open RAN contract with AT&T.
