Equinix has signed a deal with services giant Capita which will see the outsourcing provider use its data centers for hosting of European clients.

Under what is being termed as a regional marketing alliance Capita IT Services will provide European clients with international hosting and data center support and through the alliance, Capita’s clients will have the option of deploying into Equinix data center around the world.

Capita provides managed co-location services and has proven expertise in managing Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulated business data and CESG protectively-marked data, which helps new customers, manage complex regulatory issues. Through its alliance with Equinix, Capita will provide secure cloud services to its customers deployed inside Equinix data centers.

“Businesses are battling to integrate legacy IT resources with converging social networking, collaboration and mobile platforms. This has created an opportunity for us to deliver even more value to our clients,” said Mark Brown, chief technology officer at Capita IT Services.  “Cloud computing has had its fair share of hype, but initiatives like the Government’s G-Cloud show that we are nearing the tipping point. This marketing alliance allows Capita to lay the foundation for delivering cloud solutions around the globe without compromising on regulatory obligations, which is particularly important to our insurance and public sector clients.”

“As well as the obvious business benefits, data centres are also a great revenue opportunity.  This alliance will enable Capita’s customers to benefit from Equinix Marketplace, a tool designed to give companies better visibility on who else is located within Equinix facilities to enable them to create connections amongst themselves,” said Dick Theunissen, CMO, Equinix EMEA. “We share a long track record of collaboration with Capita. We look forward to extending this relationship into new markets, allowing them to create a portfolio of cloud solutions across the globe.”
