An Equinix-occupied data center in California has changed landlords.
Citing Santa Clara County property records, BizJournal and Mercury News report Brookfield acquired 255 Caspian Drive in Sunnyvale from DivcoWest for $90.3 million.
Local real estate firm DivcoWest purchased the 120,000 sq ft (11,150 sqm) building in 2021 for $50m, according to county records.
Equinix occupies the facility, listing it as its SV4 facility. The single-story building features 67,620 sq ft (6,280 sqm) of colocation space. An online case study suggests it offers 8MW.
A lease agreement on the SEC archives suggests Equinix has operated out of the site since 2005, at the time leasing from Mission West Properties.
DivcoWest no longer lists the facility on its website and is yet to comment on the news. According to a previous listing on the company’s website, the property was built in 1978 and renovated in 2009.
Equinix operates a dozen data centers across Silicon Valley. The most recent, SV12x, launched in January. Plans for more are in the works.
The company has previously exited several legacy leased facilities across Silicon Valley.
Equinix buys San Jose office buildings
Equinix recently expanded its landholdings in San Jose.
In February, real estate investment firm Kennedy Wilson sold six buildings at 6800 Santa Teresa Blvd, 140 Great Oaks Blvd, and 6541 Vía Del Oro to an affiliate linked to Equinix for $51m, according to local property records.
The three addresses are on either side of Equinix’s SV12 facility at 123 Great Oaks Blvd.
The office buildings are currently at least partially occupied. Kennedy Wilson reportedly bought the buildings in 2020 for $53.5m.
Equinix is yet to comment on the news.
