Energy Field Security (EFS) plans to build an Edge data center in Delta, Colorado, to serve local healthcare and medical providers.

The company this week announced a plan to construct an Edge micro data center on a seven-acre site located on Porter Court just north of Delta Health hospital. Subject to zoning approval, EFS said the modular facility will total approximately 10,000 sq ft (929 sqm) with expansion capability.

The company said the facility will provide managed services, colocation & hosting space, and offices to the local medical community.

EFS is working with its partners, Worldwide Environmental Services (WES) and NodeCom, in connection with acquisition, planning, design, and construction of the facility. The company is aiming to bring the facility online in 'early 2023.'

The facility will feature on-site solar panels, battery storage, and small vertical wind turbines. A designated, on-site Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station is also being considered to serve the community.

"The capabilities EFS's Edge micro data center brings to the community will attract new business to Delta and accelerate job growth in areas which it will support, including telemedicine, emergency services, FinTech, cybersecurity and e-commerce," said Chris Ryan, ex-mayor pro-tem for Delta city. "This is an exciting project for Delta, to say the least."

The project is referred to as "Project Salus" after the Roman goddess of safety, welfare, health, and prosperity.

Not much information is publicly available about EFS. On its site, the company it was established in 2009 focused on providing our energy field producers here in Colorado with CO2 monitoring, before pivoting around 2019 to focus on renewable energy, local grids, and Edge data centers.
