Emerson Network Power announced a new power distribution cabinet for data centers Tuesday, which provides a high power density but takes up a relatively small piece of data center floor space.

As power densities rise, more IT equipment is installed in data centers, making physical space on floor a valuable asset. The new Liebert RX Remote Power Distribution Cabinet addresses that issue.

Peter Panfil, VP of global power at Emerson, said, “With data center space at a premium and the influx of more devices and the move to higher densities, there is increasing stress being put on the data center power infrastructure.

“The easy-to-install and maintain Liebert RX supplies packaged power distribution in the smallest possible footprint available in the industry, conserving valuable floor space and enabling a power support infrastructure that is compact and flexible enough to meet constantly changing room demands.”

The product comes in two sizes: 400 Amp and 84 poles in one panel board with a 24-inch-by-12-inch footprint, or up to 168 poles within a 24-inch-by-24-inch footprint. Customers can configure clusters of up to four floor- or wall-mounted units.

Two monitoring options are available for the unit: monitoring at the panel-board level or at the branch-circuit level. The first option is through Emerson’s Current Plus Monitoring (CPM) solution, while the second one is through Liebert Distribution Monitoring (LDMF).

The unit features a CPM display for current and voltage of the panel board. An LDMF display, which provides both panel-board and branch-circuit-breaker monitoring, is optional.

The product is available for 50Hz and 60Hz applications in North America, Central America, Latin America and Asia.
