EMC made 42 announcements on products and partnership at its convention today including the next version of its Isilon OneFS scale-out NAS operating system, code named “Mavericks.” 

OneFS Mavericks is a next generation software architecture – named after undersea rock formations off northern California which creates 25ft waves – to address scale out storage reliability and performance.

Features will include roles based administration, authentication zones, SEC 17A compliance, NAS data protection through a snapshot, Sync IQ for failover, replicated at high speeds and improved NAS performance, throughput, 1.6m IOs at 50% improved latency, and greater integration on VMware, VAAI, vstorage APIs for array integration and VASA, vSphere APIs for storage awareness.

The company added to its X series with a new X400 NAS that scales to 15PBs and 1.6GBs throughptut.

At the enterprise level came the VMAX 10K, VMAX 20K and the VMAX 40K.

VNX, the firm’s midrange hardware platform has been upgraded with the VNXe3150 delivering  50% more performance and capacity per rack unit. The VNXe can support flash drives and has an entry price point of under $10,000. On the opex front the product will reduce power and cooling requirements by 33% compared with earlier models.

VMware and EMC extended their partnership to develop, sell and deliver storage analytics for VNX unified storage range. EMC plans to OEM VMware vCenter operations and integrate it with EMC VNX. 

Enhancements were made to Data Domain and Avamar systems and software in the backup and recovery landscape.

VPLEX virtual storage with EMC RecoverPoint data protection is defining a new standard for Hybrid Cloud availability and protection.

EMC introduced a new suite of enhancements to the EMC Atmos Cloud platform that transform the way service providers and enterprises manage Big Data in large, globally-distributed cloud storage environments. 

EMC also announced new Atmos Cloud Accelerators that make it even easier and faster to move data in and out of Atmos-powered clouds.

And the company said it DataBridge enterprise management tool enables the building of customizable dashboards for delivering ITaaS.
