Thermal risk expert EkkoSense, based in Nottingham UK, is launching EkkoSoft Critical, a web-based offering for managing critical data centre facilities.

EkkoSoft Critical is an immersive experience combining real-time 3D views of heatflows in the data center, gathered from sensors. Using it, EkkoSense promises organizations will be able to identify and eradicate thermal risk in their data centres as well as driving significant additional energy savings.

The EkkoSoft Critical range a cost-effective, easy to use web-based 3D application that creates real-time views of a data centre’s physical and thermal dynamics at sufficient accuracy to spot thermal risks and significant energy saving opportunities.

It also includes low cost wireless sensors for temperature, humidity and airflow, called “Critical Things”. Among these sensors is a wireless cooling duty meter that quantifies exactly how much cooling is being used at a site.

EkkoSense is preparing to show a new sensor technology for the critical environment, called EkkoEye: a 360-degree infrared sensor that can completely visualize an environment using only a handful of dedicated sensors.

“A third of data centre outages are the result of thermal issues,” said Dr Stu Redshaw, CTO of EkkoSense. ”We introduced our EkkoSoft Critical approach to address this issue directly, providing data centre operators and owners with an intuitive and easy-to-use solution that – for the first time – allows them to visualise their own data centre cold and hot spots in true web-based 3D.”
