Egenera, provider of management software for data center IT infrastructure, has opened the doors of its new headquarters in Boxborough, Massachusetts. The location includes office and data center space.

The company said it took the 26,000 sq ft of space at Boxborough's Tech Central campus because it needed a larger data center, more R&D lab and office space.

Egenera president and CEO Pete Manca said in a statement the move to the new offices marked a milestone for the company. "We posted strong financial results during the first three months of 2011;our fifth consecutive quarter of profitability, increased revenue, customer growth and partner expansion," he added.

Egenera's flagship product PAN Manager has been deployed in more than 1,600 data centers around the world, according to the vendor. The software turns separate IT infrastructure management tools (server management, I/O, management, VM management, etc.) into a converged computing infrastructure with pools of compute, I/O and network resources.

The company partners with IT vendors to make the software available on select hardware platforms. Partners include Dell, Fujitsu and, most recently, HP, with whom Egenera entered into a partnership in April.

Egenera founded in Massachusetts in 2000.

Boxborough is a small town just outside of Boston. Other tech companies present there include fiber and bandwidth services provider Lightower, which is headquartered there, Cisco, which has located its Mobile Internet Technology Group campus there, and analyst house IDC, which has a 50,000-sq-ft data center in town.
