EdgeCore, Stack Infrastructure, and Yondr have launched a Data Center Safety Council.
The safety council is aimed at creating a "unified approach" towards the safety and well-being of workers in data centers. The council has been facilitated by consulting firm Antea Group.
The rapid growth of the data center industry means there is a need for standardization around best health and safety practices and regulations, the companies said.
"I am inspired to see key leaders in the data center industry step forward to take initiative and create collective action for the safety of their workers," said Peylina Chu, SVP Antea Group USA, serving as the executive director of the Data Center Safety Council. "We are excited to launch key workstreams this year to create better industry alignment and look forward to more members joining."
The council is recruiting peers from the industry to join.
Antea Group is an environment, health, safety, and sustainability consulting firm.
Health and safety concerns in data centers can range from arc flash incidents to construction accidents.
Earlier this year, there was a fatal incident at an electrical substation that was being built to power a Microsoft data center in London after a worker became trapped.
