Electrical equipment manufacturer Eaton has come up with a new way to package and ship its BladeUPS system. The company now offers BladeUPS in a preassembled cabinet.

The new solution, called BladeUPS Top-Entry Preassembled System allows for easier access to power cabling and is targeted largely at customers that do not have raised floors in their data centers. It was also designed for customers looking to consolidate stand-alone UPS systems for easier management and better power capacity planning.

Kevin Dyer, project manager at Allison-Smith, an electrical contracting firm, was involved in installing Eaton's new system in a client's data center and said it worked well within the existing space limitations. Allison-Smith installed the system at the end of the customer's existing cabinet lineup.

"Many of our small-to-medium enterprise clients are moving toward the non-raised floor environments and the Top-Entry BladeUPS system gives electricians the flexibility to feed cables overhead when configuration options are constrained," Dyer said.
