Duos Technologies is to deploy an Edge data center for a school services center in Texas.

Duos, through its Duos Edge AI subsidiary, this week announced a strategic partnership with Region 3 Education Service Center (ESC) to deploy a new Edge data center in Victoria, Texas.

The Victoria-based module will serve as a local computing hub supporting 37 school districts in the Region 3 footprint.

Founded in 2001 and based in Jacksonville, Florida, Duos offers vision-based technology solutions to automate inspections of trains, trucks, and automobiles while in motion.

The company launched a new Edge unit last year and raised $2.2m in funding for the initial roll-out. The new business is led by EdgePresence and Colo5 founder Recker; the company’s Edge data centers contain 15 cabinets housed in a 55ft by 13ft (13m by 4m) pod and are reportedly able to support up to 100kW per rack.

One of 20 regional service centers across Texas, the Region 3 Education Service Center (ESC) serves 37 public school districts located in an 11-county area across 10,833 square miles and serving more than 52,000 students.

The company deployed an Edge module at the Region 16 Education Service Center in Amarillo, Texas, last year, serving 60 school districts and three charter schools with 226 campuses across a 26,000 square-mile area.

This latest deployment is part of Duos' aim to deploy 15 Edge data centers by year-end. The company says it has nine sites commercially identified and additional real estate and contractual negotiations underway.

Duos is also developing larger campuses, with plans to deploy four 50MW modules in Pampa, Texas.
