Digital Realty will add 30,000 square feet of data center space at the 120 E. Van Buren St. faciltiy

Wholesale colocation provider Digital Realty Trust has completed a substantial expansion of power available at a data center in Phoenix, Ariz., which the company bought in 2006. The provider has upgraded electrical infrastructure and added 25 MW of power at the 120 E Van Buren St. facility, bringing its total capacity to 31.4 MW, delivered by APS.

Additional power at hand, Digital Realty plans to expand data center space at the facility by 30,000 square feet, according to a company news release.

"Completing this project to bring additional power to 120 East Van Buren is the culmination of a multi-year revitalization plan for the property," Digital Realty VP of Global Sales Brent Behrman said in a statement. "Since acquiring the property in 2006, we have worked closely with customers in the building to determine their needs, and it was clear that additional power was needed."

This is the second major expansion the large San Francisco-based provider announced in less than one week. Last week the company said it had started a project adding 16 MW of power and 30,000-60,000 square feet of data center space at its 210 N. Tucker Blvd. facility in St. Louis.
