Digital Realty Trust has partnered up with a major US real estate and investment companies to jointly deliver build-to-suit enterprise data centers. The partnership offers to build custom designed data centers anywhere in the world and lease them to tenants without the risk of financing contingency (a contract clause that says the project will only go ahead if financing is obtained).

"The firm (KDC) has a tremendous track record in completing custom development projects on-time and on-budget," DRT's SVP of Corporate Development Chris Crosby said in a statement, describing the new partner as a leader in corporate build-to-suit projects that has developed more than 110 such projects over the last 10 years.

"Customers can leverage our experience and expertise during the design process as well as take advantage of access to our global purchasing arrangements for data center components," Crosby said about DRT's side of the partnership.

DRT is a real estate investment trust based in San Francisco, Calif. The company builds and leases out wholesale turn-key data centers.

KDC, based in Dallas, Texas, provides a range of commercial real estate services, which, in addition to build-to-suit development, include acquisitions, corporate facility construction project management and project financing, among other services.
