Private credit firm Lakeland Equity Group yesterday filed an application for a data center worth $1.6 billion in Cleveland, Ohio.

It calls for the construction of a 150MW campus on a 35-acre site at 3560 E 55th St, an address currently owned by trucking company Morabito Enterprises.

The campus could consist of three buildings, and local news outlet NEOtrans reports that the buildings will be two stories high and span a total of 300,000 sq ft (27,870 sqm).

But this project could be halted in its tracks if the Cleveland City Council chooses to go ahead with a potential one-year moratorium, which was proposed by a council member in April, according to News 5 Cleveland.

The moratorium has yet to be considered by local authorities.

Lakeland also told News 5 Cleveland that the data center would use closed-loop cooling, produce no smoke, no fumes, and no truck traffic, and said that it would work with local constituents.

Lakeland Equity Group says that it specializes in projects seeking funding equity shortfalls with gaps “ranging between $1-10 million.” Public information about the company is sparse.

Cleveland is located in northeastern Ohio and is on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Most of the state’s data centers are clustered around Columbus, but Cleveland sports a significant amount of facilities as well.
