The requirement for clear guidelines and global standardization of practices to protect mission critical IT facilities dominated the proceedings at DatacenterDynamics Mumbai, held on the 20th April at the Mumbai Grand Hyatt. The event, which attracted over 400 delegates, is the first large scale gathering of datacenter professionals ever held in India. As a result of the success of the event, DatacenterDynamics is pleased to announce that a further event will now be added to the calendar in Bangalore later this year.

"418 is a record number of delegates for any maiden DatacenterDynamics event worldwide! said Ron Varma, conference director, DatacenterDynamics Pte.Ltd. "What is particularly interesting is the balance between IT and facilities, which exactly reverses the trend we see at our UK and US events. It clearly demonstrates that IT decision makers on the sub-Continent are hungry for facilities management information. It also shows that these professionals are highly aware of the role which IT facilities, in particular datacenters, play in the success of this growing economy.

The Mumbai event saw delegates air a variety of core concerns including the need to align local facilities management operations with global classifications. Represented were Government Institutions and Ministries;the Finance Sector (including 20 banks, the Indian Stock Exchange and National Securities Depository);Pharmaceutical, Travel and outsourced service providers. They gathered to hear keynotes and seminars delivered by acknowledged datacenter experts including Charles Rego, Chief Technical Architect, Intel Solution Services and Don Beaty, chairman of The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) TC9.9 Committee. Attendees were also be able to discuss best-of-breed practices with leading industry suppliers including American Power Conversion, IBM, Intel, Reliance Data Center, Tyco, Knurr, Corning, Emerson, D-Link, Hitec Power Protection, Avocent, Stulz and APW President.
