ARM releases new chip for servers, Silentium's soundproof server racks, APC by Schneider Electric releases new RDU, Minicom introduces remote access management solution

ARM has released its new Cortex-A15 chip, which it says could help with virtualization support for servers.

Codenamed Eagle, ARM says the chip is five times as fast in a power envelope similar to its current ARM processors, running at 2.5 GHz. It can also "possibly" run with 16 processing cores. "It opens up our market to very new [products]," Arm said in a release.

Texas Instruments, Samsun and ST Ericsson have used the design to build processors, according to ARM. The move pushes ARM into an area currently dominated by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices, ARM said.

Silentium to distribute through US Rack Distribution

Silentium's soundproof server racks and active silencer for fan trays will now be available in the US through US Rack Distributors.

The Israeli company made its name with its active noise cancellation technology and it has reported in the past that it has established "relationships" with HP and Knurr, a division of Emerson Network Power.

The company will also distribute Silentium's other data center products, which allows for data center equipment to be used in general office space by cutting down the noise created by computing equipment.

APC by Schneider Electric releases new RDU

APC by Schneider Electric has released a new refrigerant distribution unit pumped refrigerant cooling system.

The overhead solution is more energy efficient, according to APC by Schneider Electric and will help data center operators overcome issues with density.

 "The new APC InRow OA and RDU provide data centre managers with increased flexibility by eliminating the need to remove or break-up racks to implement a row-based cooling architecture to meet the needs of higher density loads," APC said. It can capture up to 27kW of hot IT exhaust air at the source, according to AOC, then neutralise and discharge the cool air. 

Minicom introduces remote access management solution

Minicom said it is introducing a new version of its remote access management solution ÔÇô this time aimed at enterprises.

AccessIT will become available in October. According to Minicom, another Israeli company, AccessIT will help with managing servers, switches, firewalls, routers and other IT components.
