Enterprise managed cloud services provider Datapipe has added a new location in Moscow, Russia. The company told Datacenter Dynamics that “the data center is hosted in an existing facility.”

The move comes after Russia strengthed its data sovereignty laws to keep data within its borders, and may be set to make them even more restrictive.

Scoring big in Russia

“The new center in Moscow continues our strategic global expansion allowing our clients to take advantage of the rapidly growing e-commerce industry in Russia,” said Datapipe CEO Robb Allen.

“Many enterprises are focused on Russia in anticipation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup – this expansion enables us to more effectively partner with them.”

The company calls the location its “fifth world-class data center in the Datapipe Europe network.” The company has a presence in a center in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and two in London, as well as six locations in Asia and 11 in the US.

Datapipe gained prominence as the first company to make an Apache CloudStack platform available on a global basis, when it released its Stratosphere Elastic Cloud Computing Platform in 2012.
