Event develops into the mouthpiece of the German Datacenter industry

The 3rd Datacenter Dynamics Conference and Expo in Frankfurt took place on 22nd September 2006. With over 300 delegates and 19 exhibitors of datacenter products and services, a rise of 50% over last year, the Frankfurt event followed an international trend of consistently high and even sharply rising interest in datacenter knowledge.

Five years ago, the founders of the Datacenter Dynamics Conference and Expo series identified a great demand for information on the infrastructure of datacenters, which was neither readily available, nor hardly at all in any consolidated format.
The idea of developing an information platform providing the latest specialist knowledge on the one hand, and on the other allowing delegates to see and try actual products first took shape in London in 2002. The extraordinary success of that event led to its expansion to New York the following year, and in 2004 to Frankfurt, among other locations. This year, 2006, will see 14 events worldwide with a combined audience of over 4000.
The Frankfurt conference also benefitted from this international network. In addition to top-class german presenters, international experts are attracted to the event, with Don Beaty of ASHRAE and Ken Baker, BladeSystem Infrastructure Technologist at HP, addressing the audience on changes in the cooling of datacenters.
The success of the event was also helped by an effective blend of expert analysis, technical reports and end-user case studies.
Hans Hormel, Head of Datacenters at the KfW Banking Group, vividly illustrated in his case study the difficulty of bringing theory and practice together with the normal daily workload of the datacenter. Ulrich Terrahe, COO of Schnabel AG explained the need to plan security and availability thoroughly and across the whole enterprise, and Markus Ecke of e-shelter gave an impressive presentation on the future challenges that the planning and operation of datacenters will pose.
Most of the delegates spoke highly of the informative presentations, but also of the high standard of delegates, which provided the opportunity for networking and knowledge-exchange.
The 3rd Frankfurt Ôé¼┼íDatacenter Dynamics' met the aspirations of the organisers by offering first-class, comprehensive information on all aspects of the datacenter, and has therefore made the transition to a generally recognised platform for the datacenter industry.
One wonders how the next event will develop. With the growth this year and the consistently positive feedback it certainly has the potential to join the rank of successful events in London, New York and India and attract well over 500 visitors.
