Dallas-based data center services provider DataBank has signed a lease for a stand-alone data center on Digital Realty Trust’s Datacenter Park Dallas campus, Digital announced Wednesday.
The “powered base’s” total power capacity will be 10MW, Digital said. Through its powered-base product, Digital provides a master-planned facility with all approvals and dedicated utility infrastructure in place, which the tenant then builds out into a data center and operates themselves.
Tim Moore, DataBank CEO, said location of the company’s new facility was great. “To construct a facility that meets DataBank's standards, we needed a unique site combining ultra-high power availability and a dense concentration of fiber providers,” he said.
The build-out will be divided into four phases. DataBank expects to bring the first one online in the fourth quarter. It will host DataBank’s managed data center and network services.
Sidera gives Digital a dedicated Northeast fiber ring
In other news from Digital, Sidera Networks has built a dedicated fiber-optic network ring to connect the wholesaler’s data centers in Chicago, Piscataway, New Jersey, New York City and Ashburn, Virginia.
Not only will Digital’s customers now have access to low-latency option to interconnect infrastructure in the US cities above, Sidera is also offering them direct connectivity to all major Northeast financial exchanges, as well as sites in London and Toronto.
Andrew Schaap, VP of sales at Digital, said, “By connecting our key data centers with Sidera's network, Digital Realty is able to provide our customers with a unique and diverse option for critical high-bandwidth applications.”
