Steadfast, a Chicago-based data center and hosting service provider, has expanded its geographical reach by acquiring The New York NOC, a hosting company with locations in the New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta markets.

The buyer has already been providing services in the New York City area and the deal will expand its presence in the region. The acquisition also allows Steadfast to add content delivery network services to its portfolio of offerings.

"Although we already offered colocation hosting services in New York, acquiring The New York NOC gives us better economies of scale by allowing us to offer more services and reduced pricing for the New York hosting market," Steadfast CEO Karl Zimmerman said in a statement.

Steadfast operates its own data center in Chicago's famous carrier hotel at 350 E. Cermak Rd. and leases colocation space at a Switch and Data facility in North Bergen, N.J.
