The US market for "green" data center solutions will grow from $3.82bn this year to $13.81bn in 2015, according to a new report by EL Insights, a research publication of Environmental Leader that focuses on energy and environmental technology. The figure represents a compound annual growth rate of 29 percent over the next five years.
EL also reports that companies can expect an increase in regulations for energy efficiency monitoring in data centers, putting pressure on vendors of products that help increase data center energy efficiency to tailor more products to the public sector and encourage existing government contractors to include "green data center advisory services" in their offerings.
APC launches new over-head data center cooling system
APC by Schneider Electric has launched a new overhead cooling solution for data centers and a new pumped refrigerant cooling system. The new InRow OA captures up to 27kW of hot IT exhaust air at the source, neutralizes it and discharges cool air to the IT space. The modular system features variable-speed fans and active response controls.
The new Refrigerant Distribution Unit is capable of providing 160kW of heat rejection to the InRow OA cooling units. The unit is also modular and has variable-speed pumps and active response controls, integrated into a variable-volume pumping system.
