DLB Associates, engineering firm whose portfolio of past projects includes Google data centers, is expanding its operation by opening a new office in New York City.

Once completed, the new office will be an addition to the company's existing headquarters in Eatontown, N.J., a 70,000 square foot campus that includes a 930 square foot data center. Besides data centers, DLB's portfolio includes hospitals and telecom facilities.

John Dunne, former VP at Cannon Design who recently joined DLB, will staff and lead the new office. Dunne said in a statement that the company decided to locate an office in New York to take advantage of the city's engineering talent pool.

"New York City offers a wealth of engineering talent and is a strategic fit with DLB's ongoing, long-term growth strategy," he said. "I'm thrilled to join the company to be part of that strategy, and I look forward to building our new office into a genuine talent center our clients will come to rely on."

DLB's services include end-to-end planning, design, construction management and commissioning of data centers and other "mechanically and electrically intensive" projects. In 2007, DatacenterDynamics gave the company's founder Don Beaty a Datacentre Leaders award for outstanding contribution to the data center industry.
