Dallas-based Colo4Dallas LP has more than tripled its datacenter space through the acquisition of two buildings. The purchase of 3000 and 3004 Irving Blvd, in addition to the lease of the Level3 facility at 3439 Irving Blvd, this takes its total space from 28,000 square feet at the beginning of the year to 106,000.
3004 Irving Blvd is actually connected to 3000 Irving Blvd, which will allow customers seamless growth between facilities. The facility will start with an initial power of 7.5MW to allow an easy path of growth in power.
President and chief technical officer Paul VanMeter says the company expects to spend about $8 million to equip 3004 Irving with raised floors, high-density power capacity and environmental and security controls, among other things.
VanMeter hopes to have the 3004 Irving facility operating by the fourth quarter of this year. It had been leasing the 3000 Irving building since October 2000. That data-center space is about 90% spoken for by customers, which is why Colo4Dallas is doing the expansion, VanMeter says.
