Texas colocation provider CyrusOne announced a recent injection of new capital from a group of banks - funds the company will use to continue its expansion in its home state, where it currently operates 480,000 square feet of data center space.
"We got really good terms and conditions," CyrusOne CEO David Ferdman said about the new credit capacity of $150 million. He said the company had noticed improvements in the credit market for data centers, explaining that six months ago CyrusOne would not have been able to secure this much capital at such favorable terms.
The conditions were even worse one year ago, when such a deal would not have been possible at all, regardless of the terms, Ferdman added.
The group of lenders is led by TD Securities, RBC Capital Markets, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and SG Americas Securities.
CyrusOne has already drawn down some of its new credit capacity but Ferdman would not disclose how much, saying only that the company has been and will continue to focus on expanding in its home state.
"Our focus has been on the Texas market and that's where we will continue to focus our growth," Ferdman said.
The company's newest expansion in Texas is its 94,000-square-foot facility in west Houston, due to come online in about two weeks. This will be one of the facilities the company plans to expand, using the new capital.
An anchor tenant has already been secured for the facility that currently houses 50,000 square feet of data center floor. "We have anchor tenants that effectively put us in a positive-operating-cash-flow position."
A 12,000-square-foot chunk of the space at the new Houston data center will be available to new clients beginning Dec. 15.
Besides Houston, CyrusOne operates data centers in Dallas and Austin.

A new 12,000-square-foot data hall at CyrusOne's new Austin facility will be available for lease Dec. 15, 2009
