Hyderabad-based datacenter company Ctrl S Data Centers has announced it is planning to invest $250 million to open four datacenters in the country in next two-three years.
"We are planning to open four datacenters in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai by 2010 which would entail an investment of 250 million dollars," Ctrl S Data Centers chairman and managing director S. Reddy told local media.
Currently, the company has a Tier-4 datacenter in Hyderabad with a capacity of 1,000 racks. All the existing data storage centers in India are tier-2 and tier-3, he said.
With the new four datacenters coming up in the country, the company expects to create a capacity of 20,000 racks.
The Asian datacenter market is expected to increase by a compound annual growth rate of 11.5 per cent over the period from 2006 to 2010 with India the fastest growing market.
Reddy said the datacenter industry in the country is expected to grow many folds with nearly 1,700 square feet datacenter space expected to be created in India by 2010, driven largely by the teleco sector.
