CSC is preparing to launch BizCloud, an on-premise private cloud delivered and billed as a service, in Canada.

The benefit of BizCloud, according to CSC, is the combination of privacy, security and control of a private cloud with the agility, convenience and commercial model of public cloud. The service will be available in about 10 weeks, CSC said.

The BizCloud is built on VCE Vblock, an integrated full-stack virtualized hardware solution, consisting of Cisco Unified Compute System servers and network, EMC storage and VMware virtualization platform.

CSC will deliver BizCloud to customer data centers together with a service catalogue, chargeback methodology and automation.

Siki Giunta, VP of cloud computing and software services at CSC, said BizCloud and CSC’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service layer called CloudCompute, would be the centerpiece of the modern virtualized data center.

“There is a model for every organization. Whether you want self-managed or managed service options, or a private, public or hybrid cloud, CSC is following through on our promise to deliver the right cloud, the right way,” Giunta said.

CSC’s CloudCompute is standard across all CSC clouds, which ensures optimal workload mobility across different types of clouds customers may be using with CSC.

It enables a hybrid-cloud approach, whereby a customer can keep mission-critical applications on premises using BizCloud, while using CSC’s off-premise cloud for backup, disaster recovery, business continuity or test and development.

Infrastructure supporting off-premise cloud services by CSC is located in Canada, the company said.
