According to its website, the data center will be powered by 504MW of wind and 100MW of solar power generation. In total, the company said it intends to invest more than $1.2 billion into energy generation and mining production assets to support the site's buildout.

The maximum output of the site is expected to top 32.7 Exahashes per second using more than 50,000 Bitmain S23 Hydro ASICs.

As part of the project, Mint has said it will dedicate a portion of its capacity to develop a Tier III/IV data center to host GPUs and power AI tools. On its website, it said it will add more than 100MW of AI-centric GPUs over time.

Construction timelines for the facility were not shared.

To construct the facility, Mint has secured a $150 million strategic investment from asset investment firm GEM Digital Limited. As part of the investment, Mint intends to list tokens on several centralized exchanges in an Initial Exchange Offering, with a goal of raising $400m.

The data center will support the goal of developing the company’s $MINT token. According to the company, the token enables holders to purchase compute power by the hash to leverage low-cost, renewable energy to power applications like Bitcoin mining on application-specific integrated circuits or train artificial intelligence on GPUs.

"Mint is re-democratizing the Bitcoin mining landscape by fractionalizing the energy and computing infrastructure into $MINT Tokens. In the beginning, Bitcoin mining was truly distributed across individual users. As Bitcoin mining infrastructure becomes increasingly expensive, individual users can't compete, particularly at today's retail energy prices,” said Alex Wey, CEO and co-founder.

“Through this partnership with GEM, we can deploy our $MINT Tokens to enable individual users to gain the benefit of renewable, scaled operations - without the upfront costs associated with developing utility-scale energy generation and data center infrastructure.”

Mint was founded last year and is headquartered in Delaware. The company is headed by Alex Wey, who was the former CEO of managed WiFi platform Aerwave.
