Data center colocation, hosting and disaster recovery service provider CoSentry has launched a new data center in the US.
The facility, dubbed the Midlands Data Center, is the provider's fourth data center, with the other three located in Nebraska, Missouri and South Dakota. It is also the company's largest to date.
It was designed by George Morrissey, president and CEO of Morrissey Engineering, an Omaha, Neb.-based consulting engineering firm. The company has been involved in data center projects for companies like Level 3, Union Pacific and Sprint.
"The center was constructed to withstand the region's most rigorous environmental conditions, to operate at the highest levels of availability and deliver on the price points CoSentry clients require to remain competitive in a global economy," Morrissey said in a CoSentry news release. "It's precisely what the next generation end user is looking for."
CoSentry did not specify the exact location of the Midlands data center, saying only that it was located in the Midwest region of the US. According to the company's data sheet, the facility's houses 20,000 square feet of raised floor, with capacity for expansion up to 40,000 square feet.
Part of CoSentry's data center portfolio is a 20,000 square foot facility in the Southroads Technology Center, located in Bellevue, Neb. While the center is about 12 miles away from Omaha, Nebraska's largest city, it is also less than five miles away from Offutt Air Force Base - an active US Air Force installation that serves as the headquarters of US Strategic Command.
According to documentation CoSentry provides through its Web site, its facility near Kansas City International Airport (about 20 miles away from Kansas, the largest city in Missouri), houses a 5,800 square foot raised floor with capacity to expand up to 20,000 square feet.
Finally, the company's data center in Sioux Falls, S.D., has 3,000 square feet of raised floor, expandable to 12,000 square feet.
