Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) has announced it has signed a second long-term lease with Northrop Grumman Corporation for a 102,842ft┬▓, one story office building that will contain a Tier II+ data center and call center. It will be built for the Northrop Grumman Commonwealth Enterprise Solutions Center and will house both the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and Northrop Grumman operations. This is the second building that COPT will be developing for Northrop Grumman in support of their contract with VITA. The data center will serve as a backup center to the Richmond, Virginia facility.
The cost of the building is projected to be approximately US$32 million. COPT will develop the building in the Russell Regional Business Technology Park in Lebanon, Virginia which is in Russell County, approximately 20 miles from Interstate 81. The Russell Regional Business Technology Park is a 113-acre park that is being developed by Russell County as an office and industrial park. The building is expected to be completed November 2007.
