GPU cloud firm CoreWeave has launched its first data center spaces in the UK.

The company this week announced that two of its initial data center locations, in Crawley and London's Docklands, are now operational.

CoreWeave said these sites will host some of Europe's largest Nvidia GPU deployments, powered by the chip giant’s H200 hardware.

These are CoreWeave's first operational deployments in the UK and form part of its initial £1bn ($1.2bn) investment into the country last year, which was followed by a further £750m ($909m) investment announcement in October.

Mike Mattacola, chief business officer at CoreWeave, said: "Our first operational data centers in the United Kingdom are a significant milestone for the company, which builds on the investment we announced last year. The UK is an important market for CoreWeave, with our European headquarters here and further operational plans for the country. We are pleased to be partnering with Digital Realty and Global Switch to deliver the next generation of AI infrastructure in the UK."

In October 2024, the first data center went live in Crawley, inside a Digital Realty facility, while the second operational data center went live in December 2024 in a London Docklands facility owned by Global Switch.

Séamus Dunne, managing director at Digital Realty in the UK and Ireland, said: "Digital Realty's partnership with CoreWeave is a major leap for AI infrastructure in Europe. Hosting one of the continent's largest Nvidia H200 GPU deployments at our Crawley campus empowers companies to scale their AI capabilities, backed by the high-performance, sustainable infrastructure that we deliver."

Ashley Muldoon, Global Switch CEO, added: "We're excited to be partnering with CoreWeave to deliver the business' first data center in London at our Docklands campus. This vital infrastructure provides CoreWeave's customers with resilient and energy-efficient solutions, which are critical to meeting increasing demand from customers in the UK. We look forward to continuing the development of this partnership."

Digital Realty operates two data centers in Crawley on the Manor Royal Industrial Estate; LGW15 and 16. The former opened in 2015, the latter in 2019; combined they total more than 200,000 sq ft and 24MW.

Global Switch operates two data centers in London’s Docklands - London East and London North - and last year officially announced plans for a third site, London South, which will offer 40MW across 27,000 sqm (290,625 sq ft). When complete, it will take the size of the company’s London campus to 115,000 sqm (1.2 million sq ft). The company said the site has secured access to a total of 224MVA of power over the coming five years.

CoreWeave was founded in 2017 as a cryptomining firm but now offers access to GPUs for AI applications. By the end of 2024, CoreWeave had opened 28 data centers globally, with an additional 10 new data centers planned across 2025.

As well as a major investment program across North America, the company is also expanding in Europe, with EdgeConneX in Spain and EcoDataCenter in Sweden. It is also establishing facilities in Norway – a job posting suggests the company is operating out of a facility in Kristiansand, where Bulk operates a campus.

Rachel Reeves, chancellor of the Exchequer said: "This investment is a huge vote of confidence in the UK's digital technology sector and is exactly the kind we want to see as we grow the economy and use AI to drive efficiency. We are delivering our Plan for Change with investment and reform to deliver higher living standards across every part of the country."
