The following content is from an older version of this website, and may not display correctly.Colocation provider CoreLink has leased a mid-size data center in the Seattle, Wash., area and signed IT services provider WTS as anchor tenant at the new facility. While the 39,000 sq ft building in Tukwila ÔÇô CoreLink's second in the state ÔÇô already includes a 13,000 sq ft raised floor, the company plans to modify the existing infrastructure to upgrade redundancy and power density.
"The demand in the Seattle market is robust and CoreLink has experienced considerable success there over the last two years," the company's CEO Geoff Hapson said in a statement, explaining the decision to add capacity in that particular market.
As it proceeds with renovations and raised-floor expansion, the company may also benefit from a recently passed Washington law that exempts new data center-related equipment purchases from sales and use tax. Microsoft recently started construction of a new facility in Quincy, Wash., a project the state's Republican lawmakers attributed directly to the newly passed measure.
