Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) has leased 2MW of capacity at its wholesale data center in Manassas, Virginia. The landlord did not say who the new tenant was, but said it was a Fortune 100 consumer electronics and technology company.

The data center is built out to provide 9MW out of a total potential capacity of 18MW. With the new tenant's commitment, 6.3MWs have been leased total.

Roger Waesche, Jr., COPT's president and CEO, said the company was pleased to have made progress toward stabilizing the asset. “The caliber of the tenant and the size of this lease commitment illustrate the effectiveness of our re-branding and marketing efforts surrounding COPT DC-6,” he said.

The company rebranded the building, formerly known as the Power Loft @ Innovation, after it bought it in 2010, according to a Washington Business Journal report.

COPT is an office REIT (real estate investment trust) that focuses primarily on serving specialized requirements of US government agencies and defense contractors, most of whom are engaged in defense IT and national security-related activities. The company generally acquires, develops, manages and leases office and data center properties concentrated in large office parks located primarily in the greater Washington, DC, and Baltimore region.
