A construction worker has died after an incident at the site of a new data center in London, UK.

The contractor, who had been working for building firm Mace, sustained fatal injuries in the incident on Saturday, August 23.

It happened at the site of Pure DC’s new data center in Brent Cross, north west London.

The UK Health and Safety Executive is investigating the worker’s death.

A spokesperson for Mace declined to confirm the precise site location when approached by Construction Enquirer. However, the company has previously been named as general contractor for the data center project.

The spokesperson said: “Following an incident on Saturday, 23 August, a contractor’s employee working on a Mace site in Brent was fatally injured.

“We share our deepest sympathies with their family, friends, and colleagues.

“We are supporting the emergency services and Health and Safety Executive with their investigations.”

A spokesperson for Pure DC said: “We are saddened to hear that a subcontractor of Mace suffered fatal injuries while working at our Brent Cross campus on Saturday, August 23. Our thoughts are with his friends, family, and colleagues.

"The safety and well-being of workers on our campuses is our utmost priority, and we are committed to assisting the authorities as they investigate the circumstances of this incident.”

The company already has a campus at Brent Cross, and is currently expanding the site to take its capacity to 90MW. Once completed, the data center will apparently feature the world’s largest living wall.
