Multiple new approaches to delivering more energy efficient IT services highlight that there is still no simple solution to the dilemma of meeting increase compute demands in an environmentally conscious world. The DCD Converged SE Asia conference and expo - at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on the 15/16th September - explores this challenge across the whole stack, from the facility, to the rack and the application to the cloud.

“Simply adhering to best practices within the mechanical and electrical plant is not enough,” says Don Beaty, President of DLB Associates who led ASHRAE TC9.9’s seminal work on datacomm environments. “It is critical that data center operators fully understand the interplay between software, hardware and the facility in order to succeed.”

Jack Pouchet, from the Green Grid will also be taking the stage to share how Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), the industry standard metric for energy efficient data center facilities is being revised to account for water use; a topic with profound implications for the region. The multi-track conference programme will also take a deep dive at where software-defined infrastructure and DCIM meet on the energy efficiency continuum.

Delegates will be able to see cutting-edge infrastructure technologies from leading vendors Schneider Electric, Emerson, Huawei, Delta and many others on the expanded exhibition hall located on the ground floor of the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Conference Center.

“As the Internet of Things, smart cities, big data and cloud drive the IT industry forward into unchartered territory, it is vitally important to not forget the engine that powers them – the data center,” says George Rockett, CEO, DatacenterDynamics. “DCD has transformed over the last 4 years to become a truly holistic data center event that covers the whole IT stack as well as the mission critical services and engineering part. We are creating a collaborative environment where the many professional disciplines that touch the data center within large scale operators and end-users can come together to find cross-stack solutions.”
