Comporium Communications-affiliated Immedion, LLC, a newly formed data center and managed services company headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, is to invest $2.5 million in constructing a 14,400 square foot facility.
Located in the Global Business Park near the intersection of I-85 and Laurens Road, the facility is being specially equipped with redundant power and network systems to provide businesses highly reliable, scalable and secure managed technology services.
Scheduled to open in August, the build will include a 5,000 square foot data center, office space and room for additional expansion.
"The need for 100 percent operational uptime for corporate data systems has gone beyond the typical dot.com operation and now impacts almost every organization, says Frank Mobley, Immedion chief executive. Growing corporate reliance on technology as well as increasing demands on power and network resources are causing organizations to locate business critical infrastructure in professionally managed data centers.
Currently, Upstate companies must travel to Atlanta or Charlotte when seeking a dedicated hosting or colocation facility and associated managed services such as network security, data backup, and server management.
"Immedion is bringing a facility and service set normally found in much larger metropolitan areas to Greenville and that's exciting for the entire technology community, says SDI Networks CEO John Ludwig. .
