CommScope has completed the sale of its connectivity and cable solutions (CCS) segment to Amphenol Corporation for $10.5 billion.
Following the sale of its CCS segment, CommScope will rebrand as Vistance Networks.
The CCS segment was CommScope's largest unit. Proceeds from the sale will be used to repay all outstanding debt and redeem all preferred equity, which is held by global investment firm Carlyle. The sale was agreed in August of last year.
Founded in 1932, Amphenol specializes in fiber optic connectivity.
CommScope's debt stood at $7.3 billion as of September.
The company noted that the rebrand to Vistance Networks aims to "lean into a revitalized and more focused portfolio as the parent company to its Access Networks Solutions (ANS) and Ruckus Networks businesses."
The company also revealed that its ANS segment will be rebranded as Aurora Networks. This unit specializes in offering HFC (hybrid fiber-coaxial) and broadband network products.
“CommScope has a long history as an industry leader in networking solutions across a broad portfolio,” said Chuck Treadway, CEO.
“With the sale complete, CCS is positioned to do well under Amphenol, and Ruckus Networks and Aurora Networks will continue to execute a clear vision on next-generation solutions. As the world’s foremost authority in access network and purpose-driven network solutions, we will move forward with the same commitment to design and deliver intelligent solutions with the same level of experience and service that our customers and partners have come to expect and trust.”
The company also previously sold off its outdoor wireless networks (OWN) segment, plus its distributed antenna systems (DAS) business unit, to Amphenol.
CommScope sold its Home Networks business division to Vantiva in 2023, after trying for two years to shift the unit. As part of that agreement, CommScope acquired a 25 percent stake in French technology company Vantiva, formerly known as Technicolor.
