COLT, a leading European provider of business communications, has signed a six-year contract worth Ôé¼8.5 million with the National Bank of Belgium to provide a disaster recovery solution. This will include provision of a secure data center and permanent network interconnectivity with the National Bank's own center.
The National Bank of Belgium needed a data center and managed services provider to support the consolidation of its current IT infrastructure, including future changes, in response to new legal requirements. COLT, which owns and operates its own European fibre network and 16 data centers in 13 countries, was able to offer the most secure and effective solution.
"In September, the National Bank conducted a proof of concept' on our DWDM solution, said Tanuja Randery, managing director, Benelux, COLT. "The distance and quality of the connection was tested, as well as the compatibility with the IT environment of the National Bank.
"The National Bank is developing a disaster recovery plan together with COLT, and has the highest demands in terms of confidentiality and security. From a security standpoint our services are an excellent fit with the needs of the central bank and we are used to transporting and protecting highly confidential information. This is why COLT has been chosen over two other candidates.
