151 Front Street is owned by KDDI and also home to Cologix, Digital Realty, and Equinix, among other operators.

The president of Coloware, Mark Chaput, said: “We are excited to announce our expansion at 151 Front Street in Toronto. 151 Front Street is Canada’s largest carrier hotel and a critical connectivity hub. This space is ideal for customers looking to establish a point of presence to access the broad ecosystem of network, cloud, and peering exchanges in the building.”

The expansion is located less than a mile away from the company’s headquarters.

Founded in 2012, Coloware first moved into its YTZ-1 facility, located at 151 Front Street West, in 2020. Coloware does not say its current capacity on its website, however, the YTZ-1 facility is believed to currently offer 10,000 sq ft (929 sqm) of colocation space, according to Datacenter.com.

Built in 1954, KDDI acquired 151 Front Street from Allied Properties in June 2023. Before that, the site was used to house telegraph equipment until it was bought by Trizec in 1997 and redeveloped for modern telecom use. Northam Realty Advisors purchased the building from Trizec in 2004, before handing it over to Allied Properties.
