The report said: "Increasingly, collocation clients and prospects are interested in managed services provided by collocation providers. This is a change from traditional colocation clients that did not want anyone to touch their infrastructure. Small and medium businesses choosing to colocate are looking to reduce costs and the management of the technology that allows them to accomplish their business objectives. Respondents rate "Remote Hands as a Service as the most valuable service option offered by colocation providers."
Over half don't know if collocation provider does anything to cut carbon footbprint - the same number 55% say it would have no influence on them anyway. Three quarters say they have a disaster recovery plan but less than half have sufficient budget for it and just 12 % have inter data center failover readiness.
Over one third have their collocation facility within 10 miles of the business - but an amazing 14% have collocation facilities over 250 miles from the office (mostly small companies).
