This week a US real-estate developer received an approval from local planning authorities to build a 300,000-sq-ft data center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The city's planning commission approved a preliminary site design on Thursday, according to a WFMZ report.

The company whose infrastructure the data center will support was not named, but the developer, Majestic Realty, said an announcement was to be expected in the near future.

Majestic Realty VP Skip Bailey told WFMZ that he expected to break ground at the site in an industrial park along Route 412 soon.

"We're looking at a one-year timetable to finish the plan, and we're excited that we can get to work as soon as the snow melts," Bailey said. He indicated that the user of the future data center would be a US-based leading data center services provider.

"Now that we've gotten municipal approval, I'm sure there will be a press conference shortly to announce the company who will be moving to the area," he said.
