Cisco has announced that green IT and the creation of networking solutions that seek to lower power consumption by using less hardware resources will become an important source of growth for the company.
Under this stream, Cisco Asia Pacific managing director for data centers Andre Smit said the company was currently active in developing a green data center project in the Philippines.
In a local press report, Smit was quoted as saying that Cisco is also targeting non-traditional industries like construction and real estate companies, predicted to become heavy users of IP-based networks in buildings and other establishments. "This will have implications on data center requirements within these industries to comply with environmental standards," he said.
