CITI has commissioned 48 x 400A, 4-pole Chloride CROSS Static Transfer Switches (STS) offering short-circuit withstand of 20kA to optimise power security at its award winning Frankfurt/Main datacenter.
This new Ôé¼170m datacenter was named Overall Winner of the 2008 Financial Services Technology (FST) Awards, as well as winning the Datacenter Excellence Green Energy Efficiency award'. These awards recognise excellence and innovation in the field of information technology within the UK and European financial sector.
The CROSS STS is the heart of the data centre's power protection system. Should the supply source fail, automatically controlled thyristors can switch to a second secure busbar within milliseconds, to guarantee clean uninterrupted power for the installation and maximise critical uptime. Chloride Masterguard was able to provide CITI with a tailored solution for selectivity from the complete range of rack, cabinet and chassis CROSS static transfer switches available to accommodate any load and environment requirements.

It is certified as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated installation, contributing savings of 16000MWh electricity per year.
